Gessica Notaro, 33, and Filippo Bolognini, 29, are getting married today. They will become husband and wife in front of 500 guests, including family, friends, and VIPs, at the magnificent Reggia di Venaria Reale in the province of Turin. Their love story began in 2020, and since then they have been living in Rimini, Gessica’s hometown.
Filippo Bologni, born in 1994, is an Italian show jumping champion. It was just before the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Competition at Fieracavalli in Verona last November when he got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. It was the same place where they had met four years earlier. “Filippo and I met one day when I was working as a testimonial and he was invited as a champion because he had won a World Cup competition,” Gessica Notaro had said. “At one point, he said to me, ‘Why don’t you jump?’ And I replied, ‘But where do I go with one eye covered?’ He told me, ‘Our limits are in our minds.’ He was right.”
Just like his fiancée, Filippo is a Carabinieri officer and has had a passion for horses since he was a child. He started competing at the age of 8 and participated in his first European Championship at the age of 12. He has won the show jumping world championship six times, as well as two Italian Pony Championships and three Italian Young Riders Championships.
The bride and groom will arrive at the Reggia on horseback. Gessica Notaro, who was disfigured with acid by her ex-boyfriend in 2017, fell in love with the Reggia when she served as the debutantes’ godmother. The ceremony will be a civil one. The couple has requested that guests make a donation to the Puzzilli Foundation in support of the Agata project, which helps women who are victims of violence, instead of giving them gifts.
